Princess play is dress-up, storytelling and routine rolled together. A child putting on a tiara is rehearsing being someone — giving orders, holding a court, deciding what happens next — and that is a different kind of play from building or collecting.

Four kinds of princess toy, and who each suits

Beauty and makeup play — portable boxes, castle-shaped cases, full vanity desks. The appeal is the ritual of getting ready rather than the result. Small cases suit five and up; a full desk is furniture and needs a permanent corner.
Dollhouses and villas — the centrepiece purchase. Multiple rooms, furniture, and enough going on for two children to play together, which is where the real value is. See Dolls & Doll Playsets.
Build-it-yourself villas — sets like the Koala Town models at around 212 pieces, where the child assembles the house before playing in it. Two toys in one, and the building half often holds attention longer than the playing half.
What to check before buying
Cosmetic play goes on skin. This is the one category where that is true. Check the ingredients and the age marking on the packaging, patch-test a small area first, and wash everything off before bed. Stop immediately if there is any redness. Children with sensitive skin should not use cosmetic play sets without a doctor's guidance.
Large sets are furniture. A vanity desk or a full dollhouse gets assembled once and stays assembled. Measure the space before ordering rather than after.
Small accessories go missing. A set with its own storage box survives considerably longer than one without.
What you will pay
Dress-up sets and small makeup cases start in the 20 to 70 AED range. Build-it-yourself villas sit around 100 to 150 AED. Full dollhouses and vanity desks run from around 400 AED upwards — these are the once-a-year gift rather than the impulse buy.
