Labubu, created by the artist Kasing Lung and produced by Pop Mart, has become one of the most collected designer toys in the region. This is a guide to the series currently available in Dubai and what distinguishes each one.
If you have not bought one before, read the five things to check before buying a Labubu first — particularly the part about how blind boxes actually work. Current stock is in the Labubu collection.
The Monster – Have a Seat
A seated pose, which makes it the one most people put on a desk rather than a shelf. It sits stably without a stand, and the lower profile suits a bookshelf with limited height. Often the first Labubu people buy. See this series.
The Monster – Exciting Macaron
Dessert-inspired pastel colours, and the series that tends to sell through fastest here. The palette is the draw — it photographs well and reads as decorative rather than as a toy, which is why it appears in adult collections as often as children's. See this series.
The Monster – Coca-Cola Series
A brand collaboration, and the one collectors ask for by name. Crossover series carry a second audience — people who collect Coca-Cola memorabilia rather than designer toys — which is part of why they clear quickly. See this series.
The Monster – Big Into Energy
Bolder detailing and a more dynamic pose than the others. The one to choose if the collection is going on open display rather than in a cabinet. See this series.
How to choose between them
If it is a gift and you do not know their collection — Have a Seat is the safest, because it displays anywhere and does not clash with a set.
If they already collect — find out which series they are working on. Adding to an existing set is worth more than starting a new one, and the series matters more than the character.
If it is going on a desk at work — Have a Seat or Exciting Macaron. Both read as design objects rather than toys.
If you want the one that holds value — collaborations and limited runs. Keep the box and the card; condition drives resale on collectibles far more than rarity alone.
Why series sell out
Labubu series are produced in limited runs and are generally not reissued. Once a series clears, it does not come back — which is why older series trade above their original price and why there is no point waiting for a restock. If a series is in stock and it is the one you want, that is the moment.
