Last year, the complete source code of the game GTA V was made publicly available by a group of developers aiming to port the game for newer operating systems, including Android and Linux. This group is striving to port the GTA V game to the Nintendo Switch and has made some progress in this regard. This news was announced by the Twitter page GTA Focal, and several users have shared videos of the game.
Although the name and members of this group are not clear, they have embarked on an important task. They have started developing the Android and Linux versions of GTA V using the leaked source codes. Several images and short clips of the famous Rockstar Games running on Linux and Android have been released, showing significant progress according to the development team. One of the clips shows the game running on a hacked Nintendo Switch. In the clip, the game starts up and enters the menu, but the full loading does not complete, and the frame rate fluctuates between 30 to 60.

Another clip shows the game installed on Android but does not progress past the loading menu. A person has conversed with a developer on Telegram and asked some questions. They asked if it is possible to reduce the game’s size. In response, it was mentioned that the average size is around 62 gigabytes, but it might be possible to reduce it. The final size of the game, according to them, is around 25 to 30 gigabytes, which they believe is reasonable. Since they have used stolen source code, they do not want their identity to be revealed.
Running GTA V on Android
The developer stated that they examined the method of porting Red Dead Redemption 1 for the Switch console and ported GTA V in the same way for the Nintendo console. Meanwhile, the Linux version has made more progress, and the game runs on this version, allowing players to experience the story mode. Developing both Android and Nintendo versions is more complicated, and it seems to require a lot of time.
It remains to be seen whether this project will ultimately succeed or whether porting the game using stolen source code will be impossible. Attempts to run GTA V on Android and the Nintendo Switch have been reported in the past. New-generation Android phones with powerful processors undoubtedly can handle running the game at lower resolutions. However, the Nintendo Switch may not have suitable hardware for running the game and requires significant optimization.
